Outdoor Activities For Youth Groups in The Highlands of Scotland
The great outdoors is a fantastic playground for young people, and Active Highs offers a great range of outdoor activities for youth groups in the Highlands, having worked with young people with a variety of different aims and objectives over the years. The Scouts, Guiding and Boys’ Brigade organisations have all used the outdoors as a basis for achievement, fun and learning for a long time,e and we work with Scout Groups from all over the world every year during summer camps and adventure weekends.
Why Outdoor Activities?
Whatever the aim or desired outcome of your activity day or activity break for your youth group, Active Highs can deliver opportunities for fun & adventure. We can also incorporate some form of informal learning, including decision-making, responsibility and teamwork, but most of all, the young people will get a great sense of achievement that can build confidence for life. Active Highs will work with your group organisers to offer a programme of activities to suit the age range and abilities of the group, as well as that all-important budget.
Active Schools Summer Program
Over the past few years, Active Highs has provided some great activity packages for Active Schools coordinators in the Highlands, including both primary and secondary school age groups. We can offer everything from Archery to white water rafting.
Young People with Challenging Behaviour
With plenty of experience working with groups of young people with challenging behaviour over the years, Active Highs staff are not phased by difficult situations. Active Highs can offer an outdoor activity service that will be inclusive, fun and challenging in an environment where young people feel supported and listened to.
In our experience, patience, persistence, and positivity are the key to having a good day out with challenging groups and setting achievable goals for the activity, as well as looking for small successes.
A Bespoke Service
Over the years, we have found that the best approach to working with young people is to provide a bespoke day or activity program that is totally focused on the group. This ensures that the dynamics of the day are right and that there is no mixed agenda for the outcomes of the activity.
We do not mix challenging groups with mainstream clients, such as family groups or stag weekends, for obvious reasons, as the mix can be unsuitable for everyone.
What Do We Need To Know?
All that we ask is that, as a group leader or organiser, you are honest about the behaviour of the group or individuals that you are bringing out, as well as any specific information that we may need to be made aware of.
Please call us on 07793 84 4211 or email fun@activehighs.co.uk to discuss your requirements prior to booking so that we can ensure the best fit for your group.
ACTIVITY DETAILS
Youth Group Discounts
We realise that it may not be possible for all young people, parents and organisations to afford extra activities. With that in mind, please get in touch with details of your group, dates and activities. We offer school and youth group rates during term time (Monday to Friday), and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Safety & Experience
Active Highs are a Fully ALLA registered organisation and take safety very seriously, while still making sure we deliver an adventure. The adventure is what leads to the challenge, and rising to the challenge is what leaves us with a sense of satisfaction.
We believe that an outdoor experience for a young person can teach them skills for life, instil confidence & most of all make them smile.
Active Highs hold a current AALA licence. This means that we are inspected once per year and our policies, procedures, staff and equipment are all looked at. This also gives Active Highs the opportunity to keep up to date with current best practice in the industry.
Active Highs is owned and operated by In Your Element
