What is Canoeing?
A lot of people that we speak to don’t understand the difference between canoeing and kayaking, because in the past, kayaking was referred to as canoeing in the UK. Very confusing!
Canoeing generally involves 2 people sharing an open-top boat, otherwise known as a Canadian canoe, but may also be paddled solo (by one person). Canoes are used in conjunction with a single-bladed paddle, with people paddling on opposing sides.
Kayaking is where one person sits inside a closed cockpit kayak and has a double-bladed paddle to power and manoeuvre the boat.
