White Water Rafting in Fort William (2.5 hrs)
Active Highs white water rafting is near Fort William, primarily on the River Garry. The River Garry is a fantastic, fun and adventurous river with great grade 3 and 4 rapids. It has fantastic, guaranteed white water and river levels due to the weekly water releases from the dam. This means that during the summer season, our white water rafting near Fort William is the best guaranteed white water rafting trip in Scotland when all other rivers can be very low or dry.
What to Expect
White water rafting in Fort William on the River Garry is an exhilarating experience, with fantastic rapids with names such as Double or Quits, Surfs Up, Hey Diddle Diddle, and the Tunnel of Love. Big bouncy waves, drops, stoppers and plenty of surfing are the order of the day.
Other rivers can be used for white water rafting near Fort William, but rain is required to get them into condition. They can rise and fall extremely quickly, and unfortunately, the river levels can’t be guaranteed. This makes the River Garry the best rafting river in the Highlands. The dam on the River Garry releases water from April to October, normally on a Thursday, with some other days are available too.
White water rafting on the River Garry is a classic grade 3 and 4 white water experience.
If you are unable to make one of the dam release dates, then you may want to consider white water kayaking as a great alternative, which needs less water.
